Malacca High School was established on 9 April 1825 by a non-profitable organization called "The Trustee of The Orphan,
Church, Poor, Leper and School Funds." However the school operates as a learning institution on 7 Disember 1826 in Parsonage
House (now the Muzium Belia Malaysia)
The school's motto "Meliora Hic Sequamor" means "here, we strive for a better things" with the inclusions of "we are
the best " are emblazoned in all of it's students.
Being awarded the Premier Scholl status, the school boasts of high academic achievers and excellent sportsman.
Notable figures having find their education here includes the late Tun Tan Cheng Lock (founder and former MCA President),
Datuk Mohd Ali Rustam (the now Chief Minister of Malacca) and Lim Chiau Chuan (former national hockey players)
I always hated Malacca High School. It's just in the blood of every Franciscan. I went there with little choice in 1998
to finish my one and a half years of Form 6. Never expected it to be a full one and a half years of great and exciting events.
Basically being in here is just the transition from my teenage years in Secondary into maturity in the now upper Secondary.
Most notable event must be how I found my love life not once but twice
and in my very own class too. I would not elaborate much onto that though.
I was in the Business Class of Six Arts 3. We were the seniors and there's always special privileges for
us Six Former. Coming late was never a problem (just ask Ijay), skipping assembly was a norm and eating late for recess was
an added bonus.
Starting with Lower 6, I got to become the class assistant monitor. I wonder how's Fiona, the bouncer doing.
Oh, she's my upper rank girl or should I say the monitor. Why we called her the bouncer, you have to ask Ivan, the odd guy
in my class as the other guys were all Franciscans. He was the only original MHS student. Shifting classes in Lower
6 was tiring but we like it as it takes a lot of time, meaning we have less lessons.
Upper 6 was hectic as we prepare for the final battle of STPM, or did we? Try explaining all those birthday
parties, barbequing and late night lim tehs. How about the class painting, class mag and dragon making projects? I must say,
those are unforgettable memories. My class was always the odd one out as we were always different. ... "Very free and noisy!!"
as the teachers put it.
Extra class for Economics was dead boring. Saturday is a slumber sleeping day for me and Shirley Chua just
couldn't be bordered could she? My favourite teacher and perhaps the majority in the class must be Puan Rodzilah. She's our
Business teacher. No homework but only notes writing routine. And did I mention how we go yakking away doing that. No wonder
we like her so much. I never like Statistic Mathematics. Didn't really do all of Miss Sheow's past year questions though.
That's why all of us guys will lepak in the toilet whenever she takes over the free period.
Mrs. Ng was always elegant with all her power suits and exquisite dress. Check out her scarf! She teaches
us Pengajian Am. Mrs. Loy was always cool making us doing all those BM presentation in our groups.
Never got into Co-Curricular activities although I won a gold for my sports house through the Sports Carnival
in the volleyball tourney.
STPM always gave me the jitters but I made it through. Malacca High School indeed was a school to be reckon
with. It always had the best results in STPM. Studying here was simply fast. Although I never got close to the school (as
if Im interested??) but I'm proud to sat foot here. The most important thing here perhaps must be the building of friendship
among us. We never knew most of our classmates before this but now we are close. Jeff, Andy, Ijay, Walter, Ivan, Yap ... you
guys are amazing. Crazy, lunatic and zany maybe, but simply the best! The MGSS girls, they are just hip and happening. Having
said and done, I left in 1999 to get into campus life.
